Hi, I'm Caleb. I'm a mechanical engineering technology student at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario. From working on a CAD project in SolidWorks to machining metal to assembling robots, I've done it all. Over the last few years, I've worked on many projects and had the opportunity to bring some of my ideas to life and learn lots in the process.
Ever since I was a kid, I've had a passion for cars, machines, tools, building and tinkering. In high school, I had the opportunity to take my passion to a new level and take part in the design specialization. During my time in the specialization, is when I discovered my love for engineering, specifically mechanical engineering.
In the program, I was able to create many projects from researching through designing and building my projects using a variety of methods. Over my four years in the specialization, I have completed many projects that can be found on the project page of my website.
Over the last 5 years, I've spent countless hours creating parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, machining metal, welding, assembling projects and many more processes and tasks. During my last year of high school, I had to make the hard decision of choosing between going to college or university to continue my studies in mechanical engineering.
As previously mentioned, I am currently attending Algonquin College. Why did I choose the college route, you might be wondering? My choice to go to college was to be able to have the most hands-on experience and have the opportunity to better understand all the processes involved, both in the engineering world and the manufacturing world, since I believe that to be a good engineer and have the best possible designs, you need to know how your design could be made. This better understanding can be very beneficial in creating the best possible products. I also chose the college route since I much prefer to have hands-on experience and learn by doing the processes rather than reading about how to do them.
